HUELGA GENERAL
Bueno, ahora que tengo vuestra atención con el uso de letras mayúsculas (el gritar del Internet), aquí están unas fotos de la manifestación en la Plaza América que empezó a las 6 (de lo que yo sepa... vine a las 6:30 y acababa de empezar, la policía estaba dirigiendo el tráfico). También tengo videos pero la verdad es que no sé cómo subirlos aquí, y además no tengo tiempo si subir uno en Facebook tarda tanto (por eso no he subido los de los talleres). Así que perdonadme y creedme cuando digo que hubo mucho ruido, mucha gente, muchos letreros, mucho de todo. Demasiado. Me parecía una locura. Pero tal vez eso es necesario si queremos cambiar nuestra situación, porque si todos nos quejamos de algo pero nadie está tan loco para hacer algo, seguiremos en esa mala situación.
Lo que acabo de decir es mi opinión general de las huelgas. De esta huelga sé muy poco. Sé que el país entero está de huelga, de Barcelona a Madrid, y que están protestando recortes económicos. Pero no soy periodista, soy una bloguista informal. Así que en vez de repetir lo que he entendido de varios recursos que están disponibles en el Internet para todo el mundo, os voy a dar los recursos y vosotros mismos podéis sintetizar la información de vuestra propia manera, sin tener que aguantar mi ineptitud política.

La manifestación que yo asistí fue muy pacífica. Aunque la gente gritó, lo hizo de una manera organizada. Aunque había estallidos, fueron de petardas y no de bombas. Aunque algunos subieron las farolas, fue por sacar fotos y no por atención. Había niños cansados y estudiantes activistas y frikis y ancianos... pienso que la población entera de esta ciudad pequeña estaba ahí. Sé que estoy exagerando pero de veras había un mar de gente.
Hubo unos estallidos, como ya dije, y yo estaba muy cerca de algunos. No os preocupáis, los vi antes que se estallaron y me cerré los ojos y me cubrí las orejas. Pero me asustaron y ahora me duele la cabeza un poco.
A pesar de la huelga, había un locutorio abierto y pude imprimir las tarjetas de embarque para mis vuelos a Sevilla y Lisboa. Me voy mañana por la tarde. No sé cómo voy a llegar al aeropuerto, todo el mundo va de viaje ese día y no sé si podré coger un autobús. Pero lo voy a intentar, y si no puedo, voy en taxi, pero no quiero hacer eso si no es absolutamente necesario.
Bueno, tengo mucho que hacer ahora y nada más de decir, así que disfrutad de las fotos y os escribiré más cuando vuelva. Con cariño, Grace.

GENERAL STRIKE
Well, now that I have your attention with the use of capital letters (the yelling of the Internet), here are some photos of the demonstration in Plaza América that started at 6 (as far as I know... I came at 6:30 and it had just started, the police were directing traffic). I also have videos but the truth is I don´t know how to upload them here, and furthermore I don't have time if uploading one on Facebook takes so much time (that's why I haven't uploaded the ones of the workshops). So forgive me and believe me when I say there was a lot of noise, a lot of people, a lot of signs, a lot of everything. Too much. It seemed like madness to me. But maybe that's necessary if we want to change our situation, because if we all complain about something but nobody's crazy enough to do anything, we'll stay in that bad situation.
What I just said is my general opinion of strikes. About this strike I know very little. I know the whole country is on strike, from Barcelona to Madrid, and that they're protesting economic cutbacks. But I'm not a journalist, I'm a casual blogger. So instead of repeating what I've understood from various resources that are available on the Internet for everyone, I'm going to give y'all the resources and y'all y'allselves can synthesize the information in your own way, without having to put up with my political ineptitude.

The demonstration I went to was very peaceful. Though people shouted, they did it in an organized way. Though there were explosions, they were from firecrackers and not bombs. Though some people climbed lampposts, it was to take photos and not for attention. there were tired kids and activist students and nerds and old people... I think the entire population of this little city was there. I know I'm exaggerating but really there was a sea of people.
There were some explosions, as I already said, and I was very close to some of them. Don't worry, I saw them before they went off and closed my eyes and covered my ears. But they scared me and now my head hurts a little.
/despite the strike, there was a locutorio open and I could print the boarding passes for my flights to Seville and Lisbon. I'm leaving tomorrow in the afternoon. I don't know how I'm going to get to the airport, everyone goes on trips that day and I don't know if I'll be able to catch a bus. But I'll try, and if I can't, I'll take a taxi, but I don't want to do that if it's not absolutely necessary.
